What is the role of the Traffic Control Division?

Our Traffic Control Division exists to work cooperatively with other team members, customers, and the general public facilitating lane closures, stop and go traffic and flagging stations.

What is a Traffic Control Technician?

This person assists in directing and regulating the movement of vehicular traffic around work performed on our projects. The TC Technician reports to a Foreman that sets up a plan for each job.

Early yesterday morning, there was an accident involving a truck driver who fell asleep at the wheel and hit one of our attenuators on the eastbound side, right before the Cypress Campground overpass on I-26.

Emergency responders arrived, made sure everyone was okay, and put out the fire.

After the fire was out, some of our Banks team on site assisted in the cleanup process. This saved hours of the interstate being shut down.

We wanted to give the I-26 team a shout-out for always stepping in to help out, and we’re so thankful that everyone is alright. Thanks to the quick work of emergency responders and our team, the interstate reopened sooner, and helped keep our community moving.

More like 5 ft from the edge. 🌫️🛠️ Construction to widen the shoulders and place the final surface of asphalt is still underway on Hwy 61.

Expected completion on this portion of the project is October of this year, with final project completion coming in June of 2026.

This year, Gary Hobby celebrates 15 years as part of our Banks Family.

Gary’s journey has taken him from grading to paving and now to the plant, where he focuses on crushing operations. Along the way, he’s done just about everything, while gaining valuable mechanical skills and a better understanding of what it takes to make asphalt.

As Plant Division Superintendent Carlos Serrano put it:

“Gary has always been someone I could count on no matter what. He mentors new operators and looks out for others. He’s like the Grandpa of the group.”

We removed the existing 8 ft wide paved shoulder and are replacing it with a new 12 ft wide one. The team kicked off paving last week and is back at it this week during night shifts.

15 months to go. Progress is moving fast—and we’re not slowing down. October 2026 will be here before you know it.
