We are proud of our state of the art asphalt lab, and want to celebrate them on World Laboratory Day!
Not sure what happens in the lab of an asphalt plant? Here’s some quick facts for you:
- At 2,500 SF, we have one of the largest mix design / field lab buildings in South Carolina.
- Our lab equipment is best in class. We have viscometers, gyratory compactors, and several National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) ignition ovens for SCDOT & private projects.
- All mix is tested before it leaves our plant.
- The testing doesn’t stop at the plant. We have nuclear density gauges along with non-nuclear gauges for field testing our asphalt.
- Non-nuclear gauges? Yep, we are ‘paving the way’ with new technology there!
- We are a collaborative sort. We have a conference room within the lab for discussing project specifications, reviewing mix designs, and analyzing / discussing field reports.
- We have four coring trailers equipped with everything a field technician could need or want.
- Quality is king! We have an AMES Profilograph vehicle for measuring road smoothness throughout construction.
- You want experienced? We have over 99 years of combined experience within our QC team.
- And thorough. We have strict process controls, testing all construction materials from beginning to the finished product.
