Grading Superintendent Phil Whitaker has been part of the Banks team for 20 years! Over these two decades, Phil has played a big role in our success and most recently helped complete the Berlin G. Myers Parkway Extension.

A lot can be said about Phil:

“Phil came to work at Banks as a young man, and from the start of his employment he showed motivation in learning and developing his skills.  Just when he reached the pinnacle of road-building knowledge he made the decision to move back home close to his parents and took a leave of absence.  The whole time he was gone we kept in touch, and I hoped one day he might return.  Phil continued working in the construction field while in Missouri and gained experience and maturity. It was a blessing for us that he finally decided to come back to his home at Banks, and we have benefited greatly from his knowledge and leadership.”

To make this milestone even more special, Shawnee Arnold, Phil’s daughter and fellow Banks team member, shared what his 20 years here mean to her:

“20 years at a company is very impressive, and most certainly something to aspire to. Commitment, dedication, hard work and perseverance are words that come to mind when I hear this man’s name. He is one of the smartest, loudest, most knowledgeable, and definitely the toughest people I have worked under.  He is my mentor, and I hope I can one day fill his boots but until then I will continue to work hard and learn everything I can from him. Y’all call him Phil Whitaker; I call him dad, and I couldn’t ask for a better one! Congratulations, Dad, on 20 years!”
