With two cutting-edge asphalt plants in prime locations in North Charleston and Summerville, we are able to supply a wide variety of asphalt mixes to the Lowcountry. These mixes are designed and maintained by our Quality Control division in their state-of-the-art, 2,500-square-foot, SCDOT-approved lab.
Adjacent to our permanent asphalt plants are our unloading facilities, which keep the plants stocked and ready to “rock” and roll. Receiving our dry materials via railroad saves our jobs and customers time and money.
Our mobile asphalt plant in Walterboro expands our ability to serve projects further inland. While it does not include unloading facilities, it allows us to bring production closer to the work—improving efficiency and reducing hauling time.

I’ve been at Banks for over 5 years. I’ve always worked at the plant and crusher, operating the loader. I like the family-oriented atmosphere—we’re a pretty close-knit team. I enjoy my job and the daily tasks it entails, and I really enjoy the crew I work with. It’s nonstop at the plant—there’s always something to do and something different every day. My favorite part of the job is feeding the plant on a high-tonnage day—a big day. I’ve worked both nights and days, and I’ve been part of highlights on the job, like the production of Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA).
