This year, Green Crew Foreman Rodney Chaplin celebrates 10 years on the Banks team.

Rodney started in our paving division, where he spent years growing his skills before moving into Training & Development to help others learn. Last year, he stepped into his role as Green Crew Foreman, where he continues to lead by example and share his knowledge with the team every day.

Rodney is someone people know they can count on, and we’re grateful for the hard work, leadership, eagerness, and strive he has every day.

Project Manager Austin Ruple celebrates 5 years on the Banks team this year.

Over the past five years, Austin has grown from Project Engineer to Project Manager and has played a role in several impactful projects across the Lowcountry, including US 17A Safety Improvements and Berlin G. Myers Parkway.

Most recently, Austin joined the Archer, United, Banks Joint Venture on the Main Road Segment A Project.

We appreciate the hard work, commitment, and team-first attitude Austin brings to his role every day. Congratulations on 5 years, Austin! 👏

Last week’s P.A.W. Journey Micro Internship with rising juniors Noah Dixon and Clark Sanderson.

Both Construction Science majors at Clemson, Noah and Clark, spent a week with our team learning about our company, its divisions, and the people behind it all.

Not only was it their first visit to Charleston, but it was also their first time operating heavy equipment.

We hope they had a great week in the Lowcountry, and we wish them a great rest of their summer and a great football season and school year ahead. Go Tigers!

Night Ops. Nothing quite like it. 🔥🌙

A spring night paving with the Orange Crew and night shift teams. Grateful for the work our night crews do to keep projects on track while the rest of us sleep. For most people, it’s downtime. For this team, this is the workday.

The teams recently completed over 2.5 miles of paving, and by the middle of May, we plan to have more than 5 miles of eastbound paving completed.

Sky views of the new roundabouts that are part of the I-26 Widening Project with SCDOT.

Some cool facts shared by Assistant PM Jake Hentz:

〰️ Each roundabout is almost 14,000 square feet
〰️ That translates to:
- About 350 CY of concrete in the middle of the two roundabouts
- About 70 CY of red-stained concrete poured

The final surface course is scheduled for this summer, when the current 1-lane roundabout will transition into a 2-lane roundabout. Concrete surface islands will also be installed after the surface course is complete, putting the roundabouts into their final configuration and fully operational as designed.

They’re already helping keep traffic moving smoothly along this exit, and will be a major improvement to the roadway once fully complete. 💪
