The students are in the early stages of building what will later be a road. Our Survey Division Manager Richard Rhode came out this week and is working on putting together plans for them to use as they build it.

That's a wrap for our 2023 CLAIRe Event!

After a few years, we finally brought back this amazing event as part of our S.I.T.E. Week last week.

Our Superintendents selected members of their team to participate for the week, forming the Get Back Crew.

Throughout this week, this group worked hard as they got to know each other and collaborated together. On the final day, we gathered for a lunch and recap session, where each one shared what they learned, and what they took away from the training. Many expressed a newfound appreciation for the demanding work our mechanics undertake.

After we placed the fill material on top of the culvert, we topped it with asphalt, finished it off with one last roll, and cleaned up before our paving crews pave the final surface layer of asphalt as we widen Highway 78.

Culvert backfilling with 57 stone.

As the concrete precast box culvert pieces are each placed by the crane, we backfill around it with 57 stone material so that we can provide the best support and stability.

On this Project, this expedited the installation of the culvert process by eliminating soil compaction efforts.

Behind the Scenes of the Hwy 78 Traffic Closure.

Last week we put a plan in place to demolish the old culvert and install a new concrete precast box culvert in 1 day.

The team crushed it ahead of schedule, and the portion of Highway 78 between the two intersections of Water Wheel Rd. was back open to traffic by Thursday night!

The Highway 78 Project is quickly approaching completion, and we’re excited to provide everyone traveling throughout the Lowcountry with a safer and wider Highway 78.
